Why is this page here?

Roald Dahl wrote a quite charming and very popular children's book titled Matilda. The book was published in 1988 and a movie based on the book was released in 1996. When the book and movie were current (i.e. through to the late 1990s), children would frequently visit this site looking for Matilda book/movie information. It was also not at all unusual for webmaster@matilda.com to receive a half dozen or more e-mails a month from children wanting to exchange e-mail with Matilda (i.e. the girl in the book/movie). Although the Matilda book/movie related traffic has dropped over the years, we still get children visiting this site in search of Matilda book/movie information.
